Officially using a bag instead of plastic sheets now.
Which means no more watering down the clay each time at the start of each studio session.
Enfin! What a chore..
This project is taking ages!!
Officially using a bag instead of plastic sheets now. Which means no more watering down the clay each time at the start of each studio session. Enfin! What a chore..
Not sure why it took forever and a day getting this project off the ground. I kept telling myself I needed better ref pics, but in reality I'd say the hesitation came from a subconscious fear that this 3-year stint had somehow affected my clay game.
Here's me keeping you guys involved.
I spend from 1-8 hrs when I'm in the studio depending on my schedule/mood/energy level. There are times I wish I had perfect, 少林 monk-like discipline... but when you leave out certain things in life, all work and no play makes jill a dull bae. What's been done so far: Labor day was good. Caught up on sleep and worked on some art. Oh, and coughs are dwindling by the hour too. Hope you haven't been pulling your hair out wondering if I was still alive :)
When I'm in the studio, I go full-on artist mode. That means the wifi is off so I don't get distracted by online drama. I've been out of data on my phone for some time now. See, that's what happens when you leave Pandora on during school and forget to connect to wifi. Unlimited minutes can't help you out there. Speaking of, I should probably switch the two. The network admins block a lot of sites—music apps included—and nobody seems to know the pw for 'Staff_MHS' so I settle for the one students use. The fifth needs to hurry up and get here soon. When an idea comes, I grab the nearest writing utensil, usually my iPhone, and jot down the description. Then, I sketch a very stylized, borderline stick-figure version to remember the pose. It's not that I don't value a good drawing, but more that I work better from the mind and the more time spent sketching out my visualization, the longer the wait to start on the piece. |
